CHRIS JENKINS
PGA Advanced Professional (England and Essex County Coach)
Chris qualified as a PGA Golf Professional in 1994 after spending 3 years as a student at Kingston University studying an HND in Golf Studies alongside his PGA Qualifications. meaning he was more qualified than the average Golf Professional.
He started his career as an Assistant Professional at Ellesborough Golf Club in Buckinghamshire where he remained for a year and a half, and it is here where Chris got his first taste for coaching.
Following his dream in Spring 1996 Chris joined the team at the Alan Walker owned Warren Park Golf Centre in Chadwell Heath, Essex. Chris was employed as a Full Time PGA Golf Coach where he stayed for 4 years teaching all levels of golfer.
Here Chris met and worked with some very influential people, Alan Walker (PGA Captain 1997-1999), David Colclough (PGA Swing Tutor) and Dennis Pugh (Sky Sports presenter and coach to Colin Montgomerie) to name just three. In fact, a lot of what he now uses within his coaching has evolved from mixing with these people during those 4 years.
It was at Warren Park where Chris met the then 9 year old Oliver Fisher, having advertised free golf lessons.
Along came Oliver and Dad Rupert, and we had a look at Oli’s golf swing. Chris realised at that point that Oliver was something special, his swing, his tempo, his personality, it was all different from your average 9 year old.
Chris went on to nurture the 9 year old, and took him all the way to the European Tour, where he held his card for 2 seasons.
It was 2000 Chris when decided to move yet again, to Crowlands Golf Centre.
“I moved to Crowlands Heath because the facilities were more complete for me as a coach” says Chris. “There was a quality 9 hole golf course, 30 bay Aqua Driving Range and a Short Game Area and that meant I could teach all areas of the game to a much better quality.”
Chris has now grown his academy into one of the best in the country and produced many of the county’s best players with many reaching National and International standards.
Chris is a regular Coaching Panelist in Golf World Magazine and also writes for various golf publications and in 2006 was awarded the title of Advanced Member of the Professional Golfers’ Association.
In 2007 Chris was invited to speak at the English Golf Union Talent Development Conference alongside Clive Tucker (coach to European Tour Player David Howell).
In November 2009 Chris was appointed by England Golf as England East Region Coach – lead coach for Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk & Bedfordshire.
After all this Chris can still find time to coach all levels of player and would be delighted for you to pop in for a golf lesson. We’re sure you won’t be disappointed.
